There are 8 libraries in Sutton. All of our libraries are accessible by wheelchair users. All libraries have induction loops. All our libraries stock a selection of large print books and talking books. 
Computers are available to use in all libraries and give access to the internet. Most libraries have a PC with an enhanced screen and scanner. Supernova, which makes computers accessible to visually impaired people, is available at some libraries.  Please phone your local library for further information and availability. 
Self service machines are in all Sutton libraries. You can check out, renew and discharge books using these facilities.

Guide dogs are welcome in all libraries.

There is a Local Studies & Archives Centre in Sutton Central Library. Please check opening times before visiting.

There is a 24/7 renewal line 0333 370 4700. Customers will be able to renew their books or make basic enquiries by telephone at any time of the day or night.

What can you borrow? - Sutton Library Service offers a wide range of formats for you to enjoy, including books, audiobooks, eBooks and eMagazines.

All libraries have computers for use. The internet and word processing are available. Most libraries have a PC with an enhanced screen, scanner and software which makes computers accessible to those with a visual impairment. Please contact your local library for further information and availability. Staff will be pleased to assist you in using these machines.

Use of PCs are free for one hour. Customers can pay £1.00 per hour after. Customers in receipt of the following benefits are entitled to use our IT facilities for free

Printing and photocopying is available at all libraries.

Free public access WiFi is available in all libraries.

Free basic IT beginner’s classes run in all libraries. Booking required. Ask at your local library for more details.

Special Collections Special Collections
  • Health and Wellbeing:

Reading Well Books on Prescription helps you to understand and manage your health and well-being using self-help reading. The scheme is endorsed by health professionals and supported by public libraries. You can borrow a book for an initial 9 weeks and provided that the book is not required by anybody else you can renew it for another 9 weeks. There are currently three book lists available;

Reading Well Books on Prescription for common mental health conditions, Reading Well Books on Prescription for dementia and Reading Well for young people.

Freedom Passes Freedom Passes

If you live in the London Borough of Sutton and are unable to apply for a freedom pass online, you can apply in person at any Sutton Borough Library or at Sutton Civic Offices. Please check the opening times before visiting. It is not necessary to complete a form in advance.

 

Housebound Service Housebound Service

This service is for those who have difficulty getting to or using their local library. It makes regular calls on people in their own homes. This service is run from Wallington, Cheam and Circle Libraries. To apply for the Housebound library service telephone 020 8770 4545.

Libraries Exhibition Space and Stall Hire.
You can hire areas in Sutton Central Library for exhibitions and stalls throughout the year.
