Please respect and protect our Fountain'
Wallington Library Gardens and Fountain are a great community asset and have been enjoyed by many residents. More recently, the fountain has been damaged and also the water quality in the pond has become very poor. Over the past year, we have been working with specialist contractors to ensure that the water quality in the fountain is at maintained to a high standard and that the fountain is not contaminating the surrounding area. We have been advised that the fountain is not suitable to safely house live fish, due to lack of filtration and aeration systems, which is the main reason for the poor water quality. In June 2018, we moved all the fish from the pond to a more suitable site where they will thrive and are currently investigating measures to prevent more live fish and debris being put in the pond.
The fountain is currently out of action due to recurring vandalism of the pump. We are working with the contractors to replace the pump in order that the fountain can continue to be enjoyed by all visitors to the garden area, as well as to maintain the water quality.
