On March 1st (the start of meteorological Spring) the Weather Watchers site will be turning ‘spring-green' and we will be launching ‘geolocation', meaning Weather Watchers will be able to upload weather photos fromwherever they are in the UK (as opposed to being tied to one home reporting site as now). We're doing this because lots of our Weather Watchers have told us they want to be able to report the weather when they're away from home.
So, from March 1st Weather Watchers will be able to post reports wherever they are in the UK: up a mountain, by the sea, on a country stroll – if you spot a UK weather scene you'd like to add to Weather Watchers, you can now snap and share wherever you are.
We will be doing a lot of coverage on TV and Radio about this new functionality, and have also encouraged presenters to use the following line: ‘If you want to join in go to bbc.co.uk/weatherwatchers - if you're not online at home or you'd like a hand signing up, your local library will be able to help you out.'
The Library Service subscribes to a number of online information resources which we offer you free to access both at home and in the library.
