Elm Park Library is constructed on the site of the old prefabricated 1956 building and has been designed to be sustainable, energy efficient and a community asset. The aim was to improve the provision for culture within the area and it is important that local libraries are improved as they play a vital role in making vibrant and cohesive communities.

This is the first public, low-carbon status building within Havering and the first time that Havering Council have been able to build a completely new library.

This project has been made possible with Partnership Funding from Veolia ES Cleanaway Havering Riverside Trust & the Low Carbon Building Programme – Phase 2

Elm Park is served by the District line and has bus services to nearby Romford, Rainham and Hornchurch.

The main retail area "The Broadway" has a selection of small supermarkets, independent clothes shops, pharmacies, green grocers, butchers, takeaway shops and a large Sainsbury's. There is a post office, three churches and the library.

Local open spaces include Harrow Lodge Park and Hornchurch Country Park.
