Once you turn 12, you can have your own, Teen library card until you are 18 when you will receive an adult card. You can take out 12 books at a time for 3 weeks, though you can renew items for longer if they have not been reserved.

  • You can return your loans on their due date or before at any branch.
  • You can renew any book loan up to 99 times as long as no one else is waiting for it. CDs and DVDs can be renewed up to 6 times. (Further hire charges will apply to CDs and DVDs)
  • Let us have your email address and we will remind you 2 days before your items are due

Please note: Where items are overdue for 64 days they will be referred to a third party for recovery.  A £10 fee to cover the cost of recovery is added to the account at this point. Parents are responsible for any charges, including the recovery fee incurred on a child's account up to the age of 18.

Homework

In September 2014 we relaunched the homework help we offer in branches. We asked staff and customers via social media what name we should have, and the final decision was to call them ‘Homework Clubs'

We offer homework clubs in the following Libraries:

Edmonton Green Library

Fore Street Library

John Jackson Library

Ponders End Library

Ordnance Road (unavailable until the reopening of the Ordnance Unity Centre)

Since the relaunch, additional homework clubs are available at the following libraries:

Bullsmoor Library

Enfield Highway Library

Palmers Green Library

The Homework Clubs will be available in term time only, however, you can access reliable and free online resources from www.enfield.gov.uk/24hourlibrary any time of day or night! You just need a library card and PIN.

Borrowing Items

Children and young people of all ages can borrow books, console games, CDs and DVDs for a small charge as well as use other resources at any of our 17 libraries. Please check your local library for regular children's events.

There are books for children 0-11 years old including books for babies and toddlers and at every stage of a child's development and learning. Only a one-time fee is made on overdue children's items.

Search our online catalogue to see what is available in your local branch.

Enfield Librarians recommend: Booklists of recommended items are available to print off.

Please note: Where items are overdue for 64 days they will be referred to a third party for recovery.  A £10 fee to cover the cost of recovery is added to the account at this point.
