The Famous Five Illustrated

Beckenham Library 3 to 4.30pm, Thursday 19th October 

For many people who read the original Famous Five books, the illustrations were a key part of the experience. Their creator was Eileen Soper; already respected as an etcher in her teens, in 1927, her talent was compared to Mozart's.

This illustrated talk will tell her story and try to explain why she never fulfilled her early promise.

Free admission, no tickets required.


Screening of the classic 1957 film:
Five on a Treasure Island

Visit Bromley Central Library or Chislehurst Library to watch the classic film based on the first Famous Five book by Enid Blyton published 75 years ago.

This is a free event for adults and for children aged 7+.

Free ginger beer, lemonade and popcorn will be provided! 

Contact the relevant library to book tickets. Please note Chislehurst Library is closed on Wednesdays.

Special Coffee morning to spread awareness about Social Isolation: Men in Sheds, Penge

Jon-Paul Mountford will be here to tell us about Men in Sheds, Penge. 
Men in Sheds is funded by Age Concern UK and aims at bringing older men into a space within which they can feel comfortable and at ease. To socialise and carry out activities which benefit local community and charities.

Free informal information session open to anyone wishing to learn a little bit about Dementia and how your small actions can make a difference for people living with Dementia in your community.
