Silly Squad, Summer Reading Challenge 2020
Closes on 30th September 2020
This year's annual Summer Reading Challenge is going digital!
Because of Covid-19 and the impact of social distancing on schools and libraries, The Reading Agency have developed a fun online Summer Reading Challenge to engage and inspire young readers to keep reading throughout the summer.
Our libraries are now open, so you can come in and borrow books - but to join the Challenge you need to go online. You can join now or at any time through the summer.
Watch our sign up video to find out all about this year’s challenge. See below for written instructions.
The theme is 'Silly Squad': a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter, featuring artwork from award-winning children's author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson. There will be lots of fun activities to take part in, as well as registering the books you have read.
Follow The Silly Squad on Facebook.
Find a special collection of books on OverDrive.

Don't forget you can also join Bexley Libraries online if you don't already have a library card.
How do I sign up to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge?
Head to the home page and click on the blue JOIN NOW button to get started.
Follow the steps below to complete the registration:
- 1. Enter your date of birth when prompted and click Continue.
- 2. Enter the email address belonging to your parent/carer.
- 3. Pick a Username and a Password. Try to pick a Username that is unique to you - you could include numbers or extra letters. We recommend you do not pick your real name. Your password must be at least 6 characters long. You will need this Username and Password to sign in to your account once it has been set up.
- 4. Enter your name and click Submit to move on to the next page.
What should I do if the page refreshes and I don't move on to the next page?
Pick a different Username, as someone else may have already signed up with the same one you chose.
We will send an email to the parent/carer address you gave us to let them know you have started the sign up process.
Your parent/carer will now need to complete the next part of the process for you.
Further information about how to register can be found on The Reading Agency's Help page.
