Start-up in London Libraries offers a two full-day workshop delivered by British Library staff and business experts covering the nuts and bolts of how to set up a business and how to use available resources to protect and research your business idea! The workshops run on a quartely basis.
Day 1 - What next for my business idea?
In this full-day workshop you'll get invaluable insights into using Bexley borough library and the British Library Business and IP Centre's collection of market intelligence and business resources, including COBRA and Mintel.
Part 1 - Introduction to Business Information
Learn how to use these resources to help you understand your market, develop a winning business plan and find new customers and clients. Join us and get ahead of the competition!
Part 2 - How do I protect my business idea?
Your business - whether it is a new product or service - will have some form of intellectual property whether it is in the design, name, logo or brand. This workshop will help you understand what is unique in your business and how you can go about protecting it and making money from it in the future. This could be a trade mark, petent, design or copyright or a combination of all four.
Day 2 - Get ready for business
Find out how to set up your business and avoid common start-up pitfalls in seven easy steps.
This high energy and practical full-day, 6-hour workshop (including regular breaks with refreshments) is your practical gyuide to setting up your business.

To take part in the workshops you need to be:
- Based in London.
The owner of a business which is either not trading or been registered at Companies House for less than 12 months.
You should be an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.
