Online Safety Taster Sessions

As part of Get Online Week, 15th-21st October, we will be having FREE introduction taster sessions about online safety. The sessions will cover topics such as how to keep your personal information safe and how to avoid scammers on the internet.

Stories from Africa

To help celebrate Black History Month, Freshwater Theatre will be presenting FREE storytelling workshops for children on Monday 22 October, as follows:

• 11am – Crayford Library

• 2pm – Erith Library

Children aged four and over are invited to come along to one of these fun, interactive workshops to hear “How Anansi became King of all the Stories” and “How the Zebra got his Stripes”.

A Caribbean Story

To help celebrate Black History Month, Freshwater Theatre will be presenting FREE storytelling workshops for children on Wednesday 24 October, as follows:

• 11am – Central Library, Bexleyheath

• 2pm – Welling Library

Children aged 4-7 years are invited to come along to one of these fun, interactive workshops to hear the story of a young girl and her fisherman grandfather.

iPals-Intergenerational Project 

Would you like some tips on how to use an iPad, Smartphone or Android tablet? If the answer is yes, then come along to the library where young volunteers will be sharing their knowledge with the older generation. It's a FREE drop-in session.

Join the Discovery Club!

Explore the world of science in your local library, with fun experiments and activities.

Get hands-on with science at Crayford, Erith or Thamesmead Libraries and become a CREST Superstar on this 8-week course, part of the official British Science Association CREST Awards.

Track your progress in your own CREST Passport with special stickers and get an official badge and certificate when you reach the end.

Starting in September, for children aged 7 to 11.

Discovery Club is Free to join but places are limited. To book your place or to find out more, contact staff at Crayford, Erith or Thamesmead Libraries.

                    


Digifest at Crayford Library in October

 

 

Reserve your free ticket for one of our exciting Virtual Reality workshops as part of our October DigiFest at Crayford Library. Journey around our solar system in this space themed Virtual Reality experience suitable for anyone aged 5+. Book your tickets here.

"From the moment the shuttle launches and leaves Earth, we discover fascinating facts about planets such as Mars, Saturn and Earth whilst also learning about meteorites and our Moon and Sun. Our Space VR workshop is unique and simply out of this world."

This is just one of the many activities and demonstrations making up our October Digifest. The full event runs between 2pm and 5pm on Thursday 25th October. No tickets are needed for the rest of the event, just come along, everyone welcome! 

Please be aware that we plan to take photos/videos during the DigiFest event which may be used in future publicity of Bexey library services.

It'll all be over by Christmas?

In 1914 nobody thought the Great War would last more than a few weeks, but it developed into a global conflict that lasted for more than 4 years. The epic horror, futility and the humour of The Great War is captured in the poetry of the day .

To commemorate the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Nick Dobson will be presenting an illustrated talk to give a brief history of the First World War in pictures and poetry.

Life for the British Tommies in the trenches wasn't all about the horrors of

 blood and mud: there was also a lighter side. Come along and join Nick Dobson for a look at life in the trenches and also at life for the folks back in Blighty.  

To commemorate the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Nick Dobson will be presenting a talk about life in the Great War, illustrated with pictures and songs of the period.

Crayford Living Well Drop-in Group

Come along to Crayford Library to our new Activity Drop-in Group for People living with early stage dementia and their carers. From 12th September the sessions will be held every Wednesday between 2:00pm - 3:30pm.
