Libraries at Night

 Libraries at Night

Welcome to the ‘Libraries at Night’ programme.

In here you’ll read about the many activities we have going on after hours during our second BookBuzz fortnight. This new and innovative use of our libraries will see a range of activities that show that the fun doesn’t have to stop at closing time.

We have concerts, escape rooms, author visits, dance sessions and much more, all taking place in our libraries at a very reasonable cost - or in some cases free. We want to make the most of these buildings that are at the heart of our communities and by opening them up for evening activities we can make sure our fantastic library services reach even more people.

Our ‘Libraries at Night’ project is funded by £14,000 funding from the Carnegie UK Trust’s prestigious Library Lab programme, which aims to support and develop innovation and leadership in the public library sector. Bexley’s Library Development Officer Emma Hubbard transformed her idea for late night library use into a successful bid and its success has made this possible.

What we have now is a fantastic programme of events that I hope existing library users and many new ones will come along and enjoy.

So take a look at what’s going on, book up some fun and find out just what our libraries look like after dark!

Cabinet Member for Places, Cllr Peter Craske
