COVID-19 Updates

Library Closures

Following the recent government announcements, we will be closing all Council libraries from 5.30pm Friday 20 March. This is to help us reprioritise resources and focus on essential Council services for vulnerable residents during this time.

Community Managed libraries will also be closed. All libraries will remain closed until further notice.

The closure will include the Local Studies and Archives Centre. Library online services will be available as usual and will be enhanced, to provide additional opportunties for people who are required to self-isolate over the coming weeks. The home library service closed earlier this week.

Loan periods on all books have been extended until 1 August. Libraries will also be suspending all further fines and suspend notices and debt collection activities until further notice.
Birth and death registrations will not be available from Central Library, but will continue at Danson House.

We will update our website and social media with further information about our services, including a date for re-opening when this is known.

Online reservations

It is not currently possible to reserve items online. Please contact us to ask about reservations. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Citizens Advice sessions in libraries

While libraries are closed due to the current pandemic, Citizens Advice sessions will not be operating from Central and Sidcup Libraries. However, customers can still contact Citizens Advice via their website: www.bexleycab.org.uk and by phone to 01322 517150.
