The London Borough of Bexley now offers a range of online services for both residents and businesses.

  • Make arrangements to pay your Council Tax by direct debit on line
  • Keep us up to date on your house move, such as whether you are moving in or out of the borough
  • View your Council Tax account on-line
  • View your Housing Benefits online
  • Also, businesses can manage their accounts online; and landlords can view their tenants' benefit payment details.

Smart meters available for loan free of charge

Find out how energy efficient your home is. Bexley Library Service is supporting the Council's Green agenda by lending Smart Meters provided by the Energy Saving Trust to Bexley residents. Smart meters will enable you to see how much energy your home uses and which appliances use the most energy.

Council Tax payments

You can pay your Council Tax in a library using a debit card. Simply provide your Council Tax reference number and your method of payment to a member of staff and they will process the payment for you.

Bexley Home Choice

Available Housing Association homes in Bexley are advertised on Bexley HomeChoice so that those on the Housing Register can place bids on homes that are suitable and that they would like to live in. A list is published weekly and a printed copy can be viewed at your local library. For more details of this process, visit


Parking permits

You can use a public computer at a Bexley library to apply and pay for your parking permit online. If you do not already have an online permit account, you will need to create an account through the Bexley permit portal before you can apply.

Parking Charge Notices

You can use a public computer at a Bexley Library to pay a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) issued by the London Borough of Bexley, view photographic evidence or submit a challenge online.  Please ensure you bring the PCN with you and be aware that library staff are not authorised to deal with parking enquiries.

Alternatively, cash payments for PCNs will be accepted at Erith Library only.  Written challenges against PCNs should be submitted to: Parking Services, c/o APCOA Bexley, Westhill House, 2b Devonshire Road, DA6 8DS

Housing Benefit Claim forms - drop off point

Libraries are drop off points for people wishing to apply for housing benefit. Visit your nearest library and hand your form and identification documents to a member of staff who will copy them for you and send them off to the Housing Benefits team.
Please note that library staff cannot deal with any queries about Housing benefit claims. These will need to be referred to the Housing benefit team based at Erith Town Hall on 0845 302 3200.
