Computers, Wi-Fi and Printing
Computers in libraries
People’s Network computers are available in all Bexley Libraries. Use of these PCs is free for library members.
The PCs all have the following software
- Internet access via Google Chrome / Safari or Internet Explorer
- MS Office packages, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Adobe Acrobat PDF reader
- Ancestry Library Edition
The PCs can be booked for up to an hour at a time (or up to three hours at a time on the first floor at the Central Library in Bexleyheath). Extensions can only be made if there are no other customers waiting or booked.
Some PCs also have a scanner attached. On the online booking form, these PCs are identified with an X e.g. CL01X. Please speak to a member of staff if you would like to book onto a PC with a scanner.
You will need your library card and four-digit PIN to book a PC.
Please note that all People’s network computers will shut down 15 minutes before the library closes.
In order to comply with security and data protection regulations, all documents saved to PC’s in libraries will be deleted after a session has finished. All files and documents you wish to keep should be saved to a USB flash drive or online service before logging off.
There are printers available in all libraries, where you can print in black and white or colour. You can print in A4 at all libraries and in A3 at most libraries.
Customers using their own tablets, smartphones and devices to connect to the free WiFi in the library can also use the printing facilities. Please note there is some extra set-up required with Windows and Android devices that can take approximately 10 minutes. If you would like to print via Wi-Fi, we recommend that you set this up in advance. It only needs to be done once on each device.
Please note that there is a charge to print documents.
