Resources for learning at home
There are lots of free, fun and educational activities available to help keep your child occupied at home, now that local schools have closed in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Many schools will have issued guidance on what children can do whilst they are at home, but just in case you need some more ideas, we have come up with some suggestions to get you started.
Online resources for learning at home
Bexley libraries, Bexley Local Studies and Archives, and the London South East Children’s University are now working together! We aim to encourage and support children aged 5 – 14 to become involved in the many and varied educational experiences that are available in all aspects of their lives which extends and complements their learning beyond the school environment.
Bexley are piloting the Children’s University in 5 of their primary schools and with their virtual school for looked after children with the aim of rolling it out further in the New Year.

Bath, Book, Bed
Children’s reading charity BookTrust have launched a free new booklet for all parents/carers of young children, putting stories firmly at the centre of a good night’s sleep.
You can pick up a free copy of the new Bath, Book, Bed booklet, featuring the top tips and advice of TV parenting expert Jo Frost, in all libraries in Bexley.
The BookTrust website features a Best Bedtime Books list and has lots more ideas, guidance and practical tips on ensuring stories are part of every child’s bedtime routine. Visit The BookTrust to find out more.
Bookstart is the national programme that gives the gift of free books to children at around eight months and three years, along with guidance material for parents and carers.
