    Joining the library is simple and free. You don't even need to live in Barking and Dagenham.

    Join online here or ask at your local library.

    If you're under 16 you'll need a parent or guardian to sign as well.

    Why join?

    With your library card you can:

    Borrow books, language courses, download e-books, borrow CDs, and DVD's (subject to their classification). There are charges for borrowing items other than books and e-books


    Access free online information and homework help

    Your library card gives you free access, from anywhere and at any time, to a wealth of online encyclopaedias, dictionaries, and other reliable reference sources.


    More benefits for under 16s

    • Free reservations - if you are under 16 you can reserve items that are on loan or listed as  at any other library on the catalogue absolutely free.
    • No fines - likewise, for under 16's there are no late fees.


    Get online with free internet access and Wi-Fi

    All Barking and Dagenham libraries have computers you can use for free. At Barking Learning Centre and Dagenham library you can also bring your laptop and mobile phone along and use our free Wi-Fi service.
